2F Walking Field Trip to map out Main Street of Hopkinton

We had a good time walking down Main Street and labeling all of the houses and buildings. We found a store, a town hall, a cemetery, a museum, and an apartment. We were able to go back to the computer lab the next week and use Neighborhood Map Machine to make the maps more formal!

We are learning about reading fluency right now. Mrs. Cannon, one of our reading specialists, comes in from time to time to do some shared reading lessons. One week we read The Day the Goose Got Loose. This week we are reading a poem about word attack strategies called Independent Strategies. We are working on our fluency by learning how to read accurately, with expression, by chunking words together in phrases and being aware of our speed.
